If ready-made piping is not available or if you want to make your own piping using a particular fabric or fabric colour, this piping foot is ideal for the job which has at times mistakenly been referred to as a cording foot.
The Janome piping foot is designed with two grooves on the underside, create your own piping using the right groove, fold fabric strip over the cord then sew a straight stitch down the length, incasing the cord. The left groove is used to attach the piping and will hold and cover the cord when making piping tape. It can also be used for attaching piping with a maximum cord size of 5mm.
There is also a narrow piping foot available for use with 2mm cord for fine piping.
